Suzy Ultman

Like Suzy, a very good illustration talent. She makes very nice prints and funny figures. You can find her on the website of Lilla Rogers. Lilla Rogers Studio represents very interesting artists from all over the world!

Hooray! I am going to write some guest posts for my favourite blog Bloesem! I am so honoured! Maybe it will give my blog a boost as HAPPY!

Begur market

Last week I was in Spain for holiday. We were in a very sweet village called Begur. We did nothing more than reading a good book, little swimming, enjoying the sun and of course we brought a visit to the lovely market! Oh and if you want to see something nice in the neighbourhood? You have to go to Pals. A beautiful 9th century village.

This is a chocolate-milk brand named Cacaolat. The label is still so retro. They never thought about changing it. Nice!

Africa meets Neon

Irina Graewe is an interior editor and stylist . Saw her project Africa meets Neon... Like it very much! Colours make me smile and even more when they are in the perfect combination!

How could I forgot to tell you about HEMA! HEMA is a very famous Dutch retailer. And I am one of the lucky designers who work for this great store. HEMA sells great design ( fashion, living & food) for low prices without losing a good quality. A concept which I think is great. Why should a nice product be expensive? You can find HEMA in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France.

Eat design

One of my favourite spots in Amsterdam is Proef. A very special restaurant/studio of eating designer Marije Vogelzang. Marije makes fantastic concepts with food! I found this text on her website, which explains her work very well: "Eating design is to design from the verb 'to eat'.” Designers who work with the subject of food are often called 'food designers'. According to Marije Vogelzang, food is already perfectly designed by nature. Instead, her designs focus around the verb 'to eat'. Vogelzang is inspired by the origin of food and the preparation, etiquette, history and culture around it. For this reason, she doesn't consider herself a 'food designer', but as the first 'eating designer' in The Netherlands. Every time I'm in this little cosy restaurant I have an evening full of surprises. I just received a newsletter that her restaurant is open again! (During winter they are having a big winter sleep...) Can't wait to go there! If you don't live nearby maybe you can find some inspiration in her books EAT LOVE & broodtrommelboek.

Flowers make me happy...

Someday I'll have a big garden full of these wonderful flowers so I can make nice bouquets for my house and for everyone who loves flowers too! This picture is from Joules. A typically English brand where you can find sweet flower dresses.

I love ceramics & pottery!

Last weekend I had a great inspirational day in Leeuwarden, Friesland. We saw an exhibition in the Ceramic Museum " de Prinsessehof". What a nice museum! The historical building is beautiful and the collection is very big. I saw the exhibition called ' Oranjegoed '. You can see all kinds of different ceramics with the Royal family shown on them. Don't forget to visit the museum shop as's full of nice presents and books.

Flow magazine

One of my favourite magazines at this moment is Flow magazine. A Dutch magazine full of beautiful pictures, paintings, prints and paper gadgets. The articles are not really my interest but never the less it is so much fun to look at. It is full of surprises and funny creative extra's.

Fleamarket happiness

A collection a day is a blog documenting a project that will span exactly one year, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. On each of those 365 days, Lisa Congdon will photograph or draw (and occasionally paint) one collection. Most of the collections are real and exist in her home or studio; those she will photograph. Some are imagined; those she will draw or (occasionally) paint.
I am addicted to flea markets, it makes me so happy when I find something so nice and cheap. With this blog I have a little bit that "found it" feeling. Thank you Lisa!

At the moment you see that a lot of designers work with paper. I saw these beautiful flowers in various shop windows in NY. Must have been fun to make these creations.

Homemade Happiness is a site where you can download all kinds of prints which you can use to make your party a little special. You pay for the file and you have to print it out by yourself. A very clever idea. I think this will happen a lot in future, a little bit of the designer and a little bit of yourself.

Jurianne Matter is a very good example of beautiful products made with paper. The little gifts are almost ready, you only have to fold it yourself...and there you are. It is not difficult anymore to be a little creative!

Isak, beautiful happy things

Look at this! I found it in one of my favourite shops in Amsterdam; & Klevering. Every now and then I walk in to see if they have some new stuff. Last week I saw these lovely cups of Isak. Beautiful happy things is there motto, I like! See their blog for more...
